Looking for a dive club. Looking for Maine Dive Sites? | Meet the staff of Maine Divers Scuba Center
George Rothweiler, PADI MSDT 232393 I started scuba diving in 2004. After a career in the US Navy in Maritime Patrol Aviation with Lockheed P-3 Orion squadrons and thousands of hours flying over the oceans, I wanted to continue my life's adventures by exploring under the sea. In the process I have advanced to instructor and technical diver, and enjoy the feeling of discovery I get with each dive. I am a traveller in this life. My portfolio of diving includes: Maine, Florida, Hawaii, British Virgin Islands, Barbados, Puerto Rico, Grand Cayman, Roatan, the Bahamas, Austraila, Mexico, Thailand, Fiji and Ireland. There are so many more places to see! I like wrecks and reefs, and the thrill knowing that just around the next rock may be treasure, even if it is only an old bottle. For me, Maine Divers Scuba Center is an opportunity to endulge my passion for diving and help other divers do the same. Diving is a social activity with a self selected group of people that have achieved something special. It is also a skill where you can continuously learn and improve your abilities. My hope is that you will join us on your own life's adventure to learn, explore and discover what awaites just over (or under) the next horizon.
Jim Ouellette, PADI, NAUI 18702 Jim is anchorman for Maine Divers. When he is not out teaching, providing marine services or hunting the elusive scallop, you can find him at the store. Jim's has a wealth of knowledge in local diving experience and lore. In the winter you are just as likely to find him on the slopes of Sugarloaf.
Tom Jones MSDT (in training) Tom has been scuba diving most of his adult life but just recently rediscovered his love of all things scuba. In 2008, he retired as a Chief Boatswain's Mate from the U.S. Coast Guard after 22 years of dedicated service. He worked at Maine Medical Center as a Security Supervisor and brings over 25 years of management experience to Maine Divers Scuba Center. Tom has enjoyed diving in Bonaire, the Bahamas, and various other parts of the Caribbean. When his wife, Lisa, recently decided to become a certified diver, Tom accompanied her and, in doing so, renewed his passion for diving here in Maine. Maine isn’t nearly as clear (or warm) as the Bahamas but it certainly has a whole other world of underwater critters that you would never see elsewhere. Tom brought his love of the water and teaching together by becoming a Master Scuba Instructor. He is also certified in the following specialties; Boat, Deep, Digital Underwater Photography, Dry Suit, Enriched Air (Nitrox), Underwater Navigator, Search & Recovery, and Wreck. Tom and Lisa live in Portland with their 3 awesome dogs: Franko, Bailey, and Bandit. Stop in to the shop this winter and say hi.
